This Sunday, groups of supporters will rally together to fight for the protection of the Great Barrier Reef. The rally, to take place in the Brisbane CBD, is expected to see thousands of community members band together to call on political leaders to protect the Reef from widespread, rapid industrial development. The proposed industrial development will see extensive port expansions, dredging and the introduction of new shipping routes that may threaten the already fragile reef ecosystem.
Anyone interested in showing their support or attending Rally for the Reef can register by visiting the rally4reef website.
When: 11am. Sunday 25 August 2013
Where: Queens Park, Corner of Elizabeth and George, Brisbane
Speakers: Best Job in the World winner Ben Southall, community members and tourism operators impacted by the industrialisation.
