The National Koala Conference 2013 -Their Future is in our Hands starts today in conjunction with the Koala Hospitals 40 years of operation.
The conference will be focused on the issues surrounding the declining populations throughout Australia. Everything from diseases such as chlamydiosis,
cryptococcus, to the retrovirus. Other issues addressed will be translocation of koalas to other areas, capture handling and data collection and rehabilitation methods.
Speakers from renowned universities around the country, independent researchers, zoos and wildlife care organisations will attend. International speakers and National Geographic will also be present.
We hope some progress can be made in regards to protecting one of our national symbols.Over 300 delegates are expected from Victoria, South Australia, NSW and Queensland to attend this conference.
