New Overnight Adventure Opens at Taronga Western Plains Zoo

A new overnight adventure, Billabong Camp, was officially opened at Taronga Western Plains Zoo on 11 April 2013.

Billabong Camp consists of 25 permanent camp sites located around a picturesque billabong in the Zoo’s Australian wildlife area. This immersive bush camping experience brings visitors close to a variety of Australian and Asian animals.

“Billabong Camp guests can spend the night in canvas tents under the stars. They’ll experience close encounters with Australian wildlife and behind the scenes walking tours through the Zoo to see Asian wildlife,” said Zoo General Manager, Matthew Fuller.

Billabong Camp compliments the Zoo’s current premium overnight experience, Zoofari Lodge, and has welcome its first guests on Saturday 13 April, 2013.

    • Oh so disappointed as we have 3 children and the youngest is under 5! Would have been great this October when we bridge the gap from Tassie! Goodluck with it though! Maybe one day! 🙂
