The Queensland Government has released the draft of their Queensland Ecotourism Plan for comment, with the vision to make the state the number one destination in Australia and a world leader in ecotourism.
The Plan has emerged from the inaugural Destination Q workshop held in Cairns in June 2012 and recognises that Queensland’s greatest competitive advantage is nature-based tourism in a unique environment. It outlines a number of specific actions for development, such as delivery of a 20 year strategic plan for Queensland tourism, reducing red tape, improving decision making and government support, facilitating new investment, and improving tourism skills.
Ecotourism Australia welcomes the news and is urging tourism operators and other stakeholders of the ecotourism industry to read the draft and participate in the finalisation of the project.
The Queensland Ecotourism Plan is currently available for consultation here and open for comment until Friday 31 May 2013. Comments and enquiries should be submitted to email@example.com.
