The 2012 Federal Budget coming into effect on July 1 this year will introduce a few significant changes to government funding available for training your employees.
The key changes that will affect Ecotourism organisations as well as any other industries not on the National Skills Needs List are:
- removal of the standard commencement payment for Existing workers
increased standard completion payment (from $2,500 to $3,000) for Existing workers
- decreased TOTAL funding for existing workers by $1000
- movement of the standard commencement payment from being paid at three months after commencement to six months after commencement for New workers^
This means the funding you can receive for existing workers* in your organisation will decrease by $1000 per eligible employee and instead of receiving the initial $1,500 funding at 3 months, you will now receive only $3,000 at the very end of the training, down from the current amount of $4,000.
For any eligible employees that sign up for a nationally recognised qualification before July 1, you will be able to receive the full $4,000. AVANA offers a Certificate III & IV in Tourism (Guiding) which you might be interested in. Your employees will be able to complete this training online or face-to-face if preferred.
